ASK AND SEEK

Luke 11: 5-13

So, I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (NIV)

As a teenager, I remember hearing and singing the song at summer camp: “It is I, it is I, it is I, Lord, who comes to pray/ It is I, it is I, it is I, Lord, who needs to pray;” and Jesus, through a metaphor, teaches us the importance of prayer in our lives. How many times have we heard the following popular sayings: “Who does not cry does not seek;” “with much insistence, little resistance;” and “He who seeks, finds?”

Likewise, prayer is essential; it constitutes the basis of our communication with God. If we do not express what we need or what we desire, how is it possible to obtain it? Let us ask with our heart. Let us be persistent, and above all, let us listen to what God wants, because many times we do not pay attention to the answers. Our Divinity works in ways that sometimes we cannot understand or do not want to decipher.

Prayer: Lord, you know my needs, because you hear my heart. But today I want to ask you for my family and for those people who are helpless. Give us peace. Amen.

PEDIR Y BUSCAR

Lucas 11: 5-13

Así también les digo a ustedes: Pidan y se les dará, busquen y encontrarán, toquen y se les abrirá.

De adolescente recuerdo escuchar y cantar en los campamentos de verano la canción: “Soy yo, soy yo, soy yo, Señor, quien viene a orar/ Soy yo, soy yo, soy yo Señor, quien necesita orar”; y Jesús, a través de una metáfora nos enseña la importancia de la oración en nuestras vidas. ¿Cuántas veces hemos escuchado los siguientes refranes populares: “quien no llora, no mama”, “a mucha insistencia, poca resistencia” y “quien busca, encuentra”?

Asimismo, la oración es imprescindible, constituye la base de nuestra comunicación con Dios. Si no expresamos lo que necesitamos o lo que deseamos, ¿cómo es posible obtenerlo? Pidamos con el corazón, seamos persistentes, y sobre todo escuchemos ¿qué es lo que Dios quiere? Porque muchas veces no prestamos atención a las respuestas. Nuestra Divinidad obra de maneras que a veces no podemos entender o no queremos descifrar.

Oración: Señor, tú conoces mis necesidades, porque escuchas mi corazón, pero hoy quiero pedirte por mi familia y por aquellas personas que están desamparadas. Danos paz. Amén.
