SUNDAY APRIL 19^TH

AND GOD SAW IT WAS GOOD

GENESIS 1:30

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good… (N(V)

All was cold, lifeless, dark,

when suddenly God’s voice was heard.

Light shook the darkness with thunder,

and then the world surged from nothingness.

This is a hymn that children traditionally sing, but it masterfully summarizes the first chapter of the book of Genesis. Light was the first response God had to the domain of darkness. It was God’s first positive act to begin the total program of his creation. When he contemplated the product of his will, he found it perfectly good and admirable.   

             

And God saw that it was good, says the text, and this phrase is repeated seven times. Remember that the number seven in numerical symbology is the perfect number. From a distance we can imagine the satisfied face of the creator upon realizing that what he’d created thoroughly fulfilled the objective of the forging mission.

As the image and likeness of God, can we at each moment rest satisfied and say that what we’ve done is good, that our words and our acts always radiate light around us?

Prayer:  Lord, illuminate us so that the light of your word may be reflected afterwards in all we might do. Amen.

Y VIO DIOS QUE ERA BUENO

Génesis 1:30

Y vio Dios todo lo que había hecho, y he aquí que era bueno en

gran manera.

Gen. 1:30

Todo era frío, sin vida y tenebroso,

Cuando de pronto se oyó la voz de Dios

La luz rasgó con un trueno las tinieblas

Y el mundo entonces de la nada surgió.

              Este es un cántico que tradicionalmente entonan los niños, pero que resume de una manera magistral el primer capítulo del Libro del Génesis.

            La luz fue la primera respuesta que tuvo Dios al dominio de las tinieblas. Fue el primer acto positivo de Dios para comenzar el programa total de su creación, cuando El contempló el producto de su voluntad, lo halló perfectamente bueno y admirable.

            Y vio Dios que era bueno dice el texto, y esta frase se repite siete veces, recodemos que el siete en la simbología numérica es el número perfecto, podríamos imaginar desde la distancia el rostro satisfecho del creador al darse cuenta de que lo creado cumplía cabalmente con el propósito de la misión forjadora.

            Y nosotros como imagen y semejanza de Dios ¿podemos en todo momento descansar satisfechos y decir que lo que hemos realizado es bueno? ¿Nuestras palabras y nuestros actos siempre irradian luz a nuestro alrededor?

Oración: Señor, ilumínanos para que la luz de tu palabra se refleje después en todo lo que hagamos. Amén.
