Listen to my voice

John 20: 11-18

Jesus said to her, “Mary”. She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabbouni” (which means teacher).

John 20:16 (CEB)

When we read the text, we note that Mary is found crying next to the empty tomb because of the absence of her Teacher. We remember how sensitive we can be in the midst of heartbreaking pain at the loss of someone we love a lot.  However, to know Mary’s reaction at clearly hearing the voice of the Teacher, we have to understand that faith is not only a set of beliefs lived out in specific moments, but a living, personal and permanent relationship with God.

Mary paid full attention to Jesus’ words, her Teacher, managing to change her sadness into joy.  Maybe this morning we are suffering due to a situation before which we can find no visible or quick solutions.  But let us trust in God and let us allow ourselves to be surprised with God’s voice in the midst of our silence or lament. Later, like Mary, let us go tell the good news of knowing that we are not alone, God continues at our side.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for always being in my life accompanying me in times of sadness and times of joy.  Amen.

Escucha mi voz

Juan 20: 11-18

… Jesús entonces le dijo: ¡!María!!, ello se volvió y le dijo en hebreo: ¡!Rabuni!! que quiere decir Maestro…

Cuando leemos el texto, percibimos que María se encuentra llorando junto al sepulcro vacío por la ausencia de su Maestro, nos recuerda cuan sensible podemos ser en medio del dolor desgarrador por la pérdida de alguien a quien queremos mucho.  Sin embargo, conocer la reacción de María al escuchar claramente la voz del Maestro, nos hace entender que la fe no es solo un conjunto de creencias vividas en determinados momentos, sino que es una relación viva, personal y permanente, con Dios.

María prestó toda su atención a las palabras de Jesús, su Maestro, logrando cambiar su tristeza en alegría. Tal vez en esta mañana estamos sufriendo por una situación ante la que no encontramos soluciones visibles o muy prontas. Pero confiemos en Dios y dejémonos sorprender con su voz en medio de nuestros silencios o lamentos,  luego, al igual que María, vayamos a transmitir la buena noticia de saber que no estamos solos, Dios continúa a nuestro lado.

Oración: Gracias Señor por estar siempre en mi vida acompañándome en momentos de tristeza y de alegría. Amén
