Resurrection Sunday

THE WOMEN, BRAVE WITNESSES TO THE RESURRECTION

Luke 24: 1 - 12

They found the stone rolled away from the tomb… “He isn’t here, but has been raised.”

Luke 24:2,6 (CEB)

In a time when the testimony of women was not valued in society, God chose women to be the first messengers and brave witnesses of the resurrection. Their love and faithfulness carried them to face the darkness of the dawn and the sadness of death.  Faced with that reality, they found an empty tomb, however, their pain was transformed into happiness and their hopelessness into hope. They were the first to believe and announce the good news: Jesus is alive!

For the women who arrived at the tomb, the resurrection was a revelation which transformed their lives.  In the same way, this event will transform our lives today.  The resurrection invites us to believe that in Christ there are new beginnings, second chances and abundant life.  Just like the women, we are called to be brave witnesses to the resurrection. 

Prayer: Beloved Lord, may the example of the women who were witnesses to the resurrection and the example of so many other women who give their lives for the love of you, inspire us to be faithful and brave in our mission to be your witnesses.  May we live with certainty that death has been overcome forever.  Through Jesus your Son, Amen.

Domingo de Resurrección

LAS MUJERES, TESTIGOS VALIENTES DE LA RESURRECCIÓN

Lucas 24: 1 - 12

(…) encontraron que había sido quitada la piedra la piedra que estaba en la entrada del sepulcro. (…) Jesús no está aquí. Ha resucitado.

Lucas 24: 2: 6

En una época en la que el testimonio de las mujeres no era valorado en la sociedad, Dios las eligió para ser las primeras mensajeras y testigos valientes de la resurrección, su amor y fidelidad las llevaron a enfrentar la oscuridad de la madrugada y la tristeza de la muerte. Ante esa realidad encontraron un sepulcro vacío, sin embargo su dolor se transformó en alegría y su desesperanza en esperanza. Ellas fueron las primeras en creer y en anunciar la buena noticia: ¡Jesús está vivo!

Para las mujeres que llegaron al sepulcro, la resurrección fue una revelación que transformó sus vidas. De la misma manera, este acontecimiento transformará nuestras vidas hoy. La resurrección nos invita a creer que en Cristo hay nuevos comienzos, segundas oportunidades y vida plena. Al igual que aquellas mujeres, estamos llamados a ser testigos valientes de la resurrección.

Oración: Amado Señor, que el ejemplo de las mujeres que fueron testigos de la resurrección y el de tantas otras que entregan su vida por amor a ti, nos inspire a ser fieles y valientes en nuestra misión de ser testigos tuyos. Que podamos vivir con certeza que la muerte ha sido vencida para siempre. Por Jesús tu Hijo. Amén.
