Come to the table of the Lord

John 21: 1-14

Jesus said to them ‘”Come and have breakfast.’” None of the disciples dared ask him, ‘”Who are you?’” They knew it was the Lord.

John 21:12 (NIV)

In these times of crisis, food shortages and needs, it is difficult for us to invite someone to share our table. But even so, we Christians are willing to share the little we have with those in need. That was and is the teaching that Jesus left to each of us in this imperfect world.

Going to the table of the Lord means sharing bread with those less fortunate. It means to forgive our brother, to not sin, and if we do, to acknowledge it before God in order to repent sincerely.

The table of the Lord is served for everyone, but going to it means sacrifice and unconditional service to the church and the community. The Lord’s table is a symbol of surrender, of humility and of loving our neighbor.

When we go to the table of the Lord, we do so full of joy, kindness and mercy so that others can feel how pleasant it is to share with our sisters and brothers and to be in the presence of God. Let us go to the table of the Lord with hands raised in gratitude. 

Prayer: Lord, give us this day our daily bread. Amen.

Venid a la mesa del Señor

Juan 21 : 1-14

Les dijo Jesús: Venid, comed y ninguno de los discípulos se atrevía a preguntarle. ¿ Tú quién eres?

En estos tiempos de crisis, escasez de alimentos y necesidades, nos resulta difícil invitar a alguien para participar de nuestra mesa. Pero aún así los cristianos estamos dispuestos a compartir lo poco que tenemos con los más necesitados, esa fue y es la enseñanza que nos dejó Jesús a cada uno de nosotros en este mundo imperfecto.

Ir a la mesa del Señor significa compartir el pan con los pobres, es perdonar al hermano, es no pecar,  y si lo hacemos,  reconocerlo  ante Dios para arrepentirnos sinceramente.

La mesa del Señor está servida para todos y todas,  pero ir a ella significa sacrificio, servicio incondicional a la iglesia y a la comunidad. La mesa del Señor es símbolo de entrega, humildad y de amor al prójimo.

Cuando vayamos a la mesa del Señor lo haremos lleno de gozo, bondad y misericordia para que los demás sientan que agradable es estar en la presencia de Dios y compartir con los hermanos. Vayamos  a la mesa del Señor con las manos levantadas en señal de gratitud.

Oración: Señor,  danos hoy el pan nuestro de cada día. Amén.
