Women in the Bible.

Luke 8:1-3

Joanna (the wife of Herod’s servant Chuza), Suzanna and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

Luke 8:3 (CEB)

The names of women that appear in the Bible are few, almost always as with Juana, they are called the wife of… the daughter of… and many other ways. Just because their names are not included does not mean that Jesus did not have female disciples; and just because there is no mention of them does not mean that they did not exist. We have to put ourselves in the Biblical context and recognize that at the time and in the society when the Bible was written, society was purely patriarchal.  But we know that it is unlikely that Jesus did not have women who followed him, because a man who preached the word of God, who healed the sick, who was followed by people or surrounded by crowds, how would it be possible that there were no women there? With all of this, it is worth clarifying above all of the women who, just because we have not been named, does not mean that we did not exist, memory endures with others, just like we who are known. The Kingdom of God is for all, men and women, an infinite love like God's love never would discriminate against anyone.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for teaching us that love breaks barriers, because you love without limits. In your name may we be able to respect one another and love one another without distinctions. Amen.

Mujeres en la Biblia.

Lucas 8.1-3
