Christ’s Authority

Luke 4:31-37

They were all amazed and kept saying to one another, “What kind of utterance is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and out they come!”

In this passage Jesus goes down to Capernaum and teaches in the synagogue where his word astonishes everyone with his authority. There he meets a man with an unclean spirit who recognizes Jesus as “the Holy One of God.” Jesus reprimands him and frees him, showing his power over the forces that oppress.

Christ proclaims the word of God; it is Christ himself who speaks, acts through it, and truly sets free. His authority is neither derived nor delegated, but is inherent in his person. Jesus’ authority doesn’t reside in human formulas, but rather in his identity as the Son of God, in love. And that is what our identity must be today, that of our daily walk in care, and loving actions with our neighbors; that is what brings healing and freedom.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, thank your that your authority conquers all power of evil. Give us faith to trust in your victory and strength to proclaim your name in a world that needs liberation. May your Spirit strengthen us in our daily spiritual struggle. Amen.

La Autoridad de Cristo

Lucas 4, 31-37

Y estaban todos maravillados, y hablaban unos a otros, diciendo: ¿Qué palabra es esta, que con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus inmundos, y salen?

En este pasaje, Jesús desciende a Capernaum y enseña en la sinagoga, donde su palabra asombra por su autoridad. Allí, se encuentra con un hombre atormentado por un espíritu inmundo, quien reconoce a Jesús como “el Santo de Dios”. Jesús lo reprende y libera, mostrando su poder sobre las fuerzas que oprimen.

Cristo proclama la palabra de Dios, es Cristo mismo quien habla, actúa a través de ella, y efectivamente libera. Su autoridad no es derivada ni delegada, sino inherente a su persona. La autoridad de Jesús no reside en fórmulas humanas, sino en su identidad como Hijo de Dios, en el amor. Así debe ser nuestra identidad hoy, la de nuestro diario caminar en cuidado, amor y acción con el prójimo, es lo que trae sanación y libertad.

Oración: Señor Jesucristo, Santo de Dios, gracias porque tu autoridad vence todo poder del mal. Danos fe para confiar en tu victoria y valor para proclamar tu nombre en un mundo necesitado de liberación. Que tu Espíritu nos fortalezca en la batalla espiritual diaria. Amén.
