The Family of Jesus

Luke 8:19-21

He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who listen to God’s word and do it.”

Luke 8:21 (CEB)

In his ministry, Jesus redefines the concept of family, broadens the family hug, opens the feeling of the heart to a call of unity, friendship among those who want and need to walk together. Those who do the will of God are his mother, brothers and sisters, united by grace and obedience to God. This community is called to life in integrity and mutual love, reflecting the relationship with FATHER/MOTHER God. This text challenges us to value more spiritual communion than natural ties, and to commit ourselves to the will of God for the common good for all of Creation as an expression of our belonging.

Prayer: Father, may my life reflect your will, so that I will be part of your true family, living in love and obedience to you. Amen.

La familia de Jesús

Lucas 8:19-21

Él entonces respondiendo, les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios, y la hacen.

Lucas 8.21

Jesús en su ministerio redefine el concepto de familia, amplia el abrazo familiar, libera el sentir del corazón de un llamado, de la unidad, de amistad, de quienes quieren y necesitan caminar juntas y juntos. Quienes hacen la voluntad de Dios son su madre, hermanos y hermanas, unida por la gracia y la obediencia a Dios. Esta comunidad es llamada a vivir en integridad y amor mutuo, reflejando la relación con Dios PADRE/MADRE. Este texto nos desafía a valorar más la comunión espiritual que los lazos naturales, y a comprometernos con la voluntad de Dios de bien común para toda la Creación como expresión de nuestra filiación.

Oración: Padre, que mi vida refleje tu voluntad, para ser parte de tu verdadera familia, viviendo en amor y obediencia a ti. Amén.
