The essential question: Who do you say I am?

Luke 9:18-22

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”

This question is central: recognizing Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah of promise. But Jesus is not only the long-awaited Messiah. Peter’s confession is an act of faith inspired by God, revealed by God, identified by Peter in his encounter with the humanity of Jesus. This faith is a divine gift that leads us to deny ourselves, our selfishness, leaving all arrogance behind for the way of Jesus.

Jesus instructs his disciples not to reveal his messianic identity yet because the people were expecting a political and military Messiah, but Jesus came to establish the construction of a different Kingdom.

This reflection prompts us to teach that faith in Christ is not just a doctrinal declaration, but also a total commitment that involves following him in daily life, recognizing him around us, and prompting us to act without reservation.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for we have come to know you, and so may we share who you are with others through our daily actions. Amen.

La pregunta crucial: ¿Quién dices que soy?

Lucas 9,18-22

Él les dijo: ¿Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy? Entonces respondiendo Pedro, dijo: El Cristo de Dios.

Esta pregunta es central. Reconocer a Jesús como el Cristo, el Mesías de la promesa. Pero Jesús no solo es el Mesías esperado. La confesión de Pedro es un acto de fe inspirado, revelado por Dios, identificado por Pedro en el encuentro con la humanidad de Jesús, esta fe es un don divino, que nos lleva a negarnos a nosotros mismos, nuestros egoísmos, dejando toda prepotencia fuera, para el camino de Jesús.

Jesús instruye a sus discípulos a no divulgar aún su identidad mesiánica porque el pueblo esperaba un Mesías político y militar, pero Jesús vino a establecer la construcción de un Reinado diferente.

Esta reflexión nos impulsa a enseñar que la fe en Cristo no es solo una declaración doctrinal, sino una entrega total que implica seguirlo en la vida diaria, a reconocerlo a nuestro alrededor, nos impulsa a hacer, sin reservas.

Oración: Gracias Jesús, porque te conocimos, y que así podamos compartir con los demás quien eres, a través de nuestro diario actuar. Amén.
