Interior Transformation

Luke 5:33-39

But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.

Luke 5:38 (NRSV)

This teaching invites us to reflect on the novelty that Jesus brings to the world. His message and his work don’t fit into the rigid religious and traditional structures which only sought to maintain the establishment. He brings a Realm of grace, joy and renewal which demands hearts open to and prepared to change. Clinging to old ways that impede the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in us is not a help. We must be new wineskins ready to receive the new wine of life in Christ, which renews, gives joy and hope.

The call is to not resist the invitation that Jesus gives us to transform our lives, to not prefer the “old” out of habit or fear, but to embrace with faith the novelty of the Gospel. In this way our lives will be a living testimony to the joy and freedom which only He can give.

Prayer: Jesus, help me to be a new wineskin, ready to receive your new wine, to leave behind the old which ties me down and to live joyfully your presence in my life. Renew my heart every day to reflect your love and grace. Amen.

La transformación interior

Lucas 5:33-39

Mas el vino nuevo en odres nuevos se ha de echar; y lo uno y lo otro se conservan.

Lucas 5.38

Esta enseñanza nos invita a reflexionar sobre la novedad que Jesús trae al mundo. Su mensaje y su obra no encajan en las estructuras religiosas rígidas y tradicionales que solo buscan mantener lo establecido. Él trae un Reino de gracia, alegría y renovación que demanda corazones abiertos y dispuestos a cambiar. Aferrarnos a viejas formas que impiden la obra transformadora del Espíritu Santo en nosotros, no ayuda. Debemos ser odres nuevos, dispuestos a recibir el vino nuevo de la vida en Cristo, que renueva, da gozo y esperanza.

El llamado es a no resistir la invitación que Jesús nos hace a transformar nuestras vidas, a no preferir lo "añejo" por costumbre o miedo, sino a abrazar con fe la novedad del Evangelio. Así, nuestra vida será un testimonio vivo de la alegría y la libertad que solo Él puede dar.

Oración: Jesús, ayúdame a ser un odre nuevo, dispuesto a recibir tu vino nuevo, a dejar atrás lo viejo que me ata y a vivir con alegría tu presencia en mi vida. Renueva mi corazón cada día para que refleje tu amor y gracia. Amén.
