INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY

MULTIPLYING GIFTS

Luke 19:11-28

“I say to you that everyone who has will be given more, but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away…”

Luke 19:26 (CEB)

This text tells the parable of the ten minas (each mina was worth approximately three months of work), where a nobleman marches to a distant land to receive a kingdom, leaving his servants with minas for them to administer in his absence. Upon returning, he asks them to account for what they had done with that which he had entrusted them. The parable offers a deep reflection on responsibility, creativity and accountability.

In the story, the servants represent the believers who have received different gifts and opportunities from God. The shape in which each one uses that which has been given reveals his or her character and commitment. Those who multiplied their minas are rewarded, while the servant who hid his mina is punished for his laziness and lack of initiative. This invites us to reflect on how we are using the talents and resources which God has given us.

The parable challenges us to be active in our faith, to invest in the Kingdom of God, putting our gifts into practice and being responsible in our spiritual life. It reminds us that our actions have eternal consequences.

Prayer: Good God, teach us to share and multiply the gifts you have given us in service to the Church.  Amen.

DIA INTERNACIONAL DE LOS HOMBRES

MULTIPLICANDO DONES

Lucas 19:11-28
