Anniversary of the Mission Church at Cabaiguán

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ALWAYS WITH US

Luke 21:12-19

But not a hair of your head will perish.  Stand firm, and you will win life.

Luke 21:18-19 (NIV)

These persecutions began very early on. Luke referred to many of them in Acts. The early church emerged victorious despite intense persecution. It is important to note that later, in the second century, the church father Tertullian wrote, “the blood of Christians is seed,” because opposition helped spread Christianity.

Jesus warned that his followers would suffer betrayal from family and friends. Christians of all ages would have to face this possibility. It is comforting, however, to know that even when we may feel completely abandoned, the Holy Spirit is with us. He will comfort us, protect us and give us the words we need. This assurance will give us the courage and hope to be able to stand firm for Christ in the midst of any difficult situations we may have to endure.

Jesus does not say that believers will not suffer attacks or even death during persecution. Remember that most of the disciples endured martyrdom. What Jesus says is that none of his followers will suffer any spiritual or eternal loss.

Prayer: Beloved Father, thank you for always watching over us in every moment of our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Aniversario  de la IPR de Cabaiguán

El ESPIRITU SANTO SIEMPRE NOS ACOMPAÑA

Lucas 21:12-19

Pero ni un cabello de vuestra cabeza perecerá. Con vuestra paciencia ganaréis vuestras almas.

Estas persecuciones empezaron muy pronto. Lucas se refirió a muchas de ellas en Hechos. La iglesia primitiva salió victoriosa a pesar de la intensa persecución. Es importante notar que más tarde, en el segundo siglo, el padre de la iglesia Tertuliano, escribió: "La sangre de cristianos es semilla", porque la oposición ayudó a difundir el cristianismo.

Jesús advirtió que sus seguidores sufrirían la traición de familiares y amigos. Cristianos de cualquier edad tendrían que enfrentar esta posibilidad. Es reconfortante, sin embargo, saber que aunque nos sintamos por completo abandonados, el Espíritu Santo está con nosotros. Nos confortará, nos protegerá y nos dará las palabras que necesitemos. Esta seguridad nos dará el valor y la esperanza para mantenernos firmes por Cristo en medio de todas las situaciones difíciles que tengamos que soportar.

Jesús no dice que los creyentes no sufrirán ataques ni aun la muerte durante la persecución. Recuerde que la mayoría de los discípulos soportaron el martirio. Lo que Jesús dice es que ninguno de sus seguidores sufrirá alguna pérdida espiritual ni eterna.
