A FUTURE ASSURED

Luke 16:1-15

Then the manager said to himself, ‘What will I do, now that my master is taking the position away from me?…

The steward in the parable has a clear goal, and he has the skills and abilities to achieve it successfully: he needs to secure his future (according to his belief system). Being Christians does not invalidate our ability to be successful in the projects we undertake, but it does require that our primary goal includes the constant search for God.

We all feel the need to try to secure our future, but what can we do to achieve this?: our skills and knowledge? The material goods we accumulate? The relationships and connections we create?

The Bible says that we must first search for God’s Reign and justice, and all the rest will come to us as a bonus. Acting faithfully to Jesus and his teachings, using what we have to build a legacy that transcends the material and focuses on love and service to others, is the wisest way to secure not only our future, but that of our species.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for your teachings. Let me honor you and seek your justice as a  guide for me today and every day of my life. Amen.

UN FUTURO ASEGURADO

Lucas 16: 1-15

Entonces el mayordomo dijo para sí: ¿qué haré? Porque mi amo me quita la mayordomía…

Lucas 16:3

El mayordomo de la parábola tiene un objetivo claro, y tiene habilidades y destrezas para cumplirlo exitosamente: él necesita asegurar su futuro (según su sistema de creencias). Ser personas cristianas no invalida nuestras habilidades para resultar exitosos en los proyectos que emprendemos, pero sí exige que nuestro objetivo primario incluya la búsqueda constante de Dios.

Todos sentimos esa necesidad de intentar asegurar nuestro futuro, pero, ¿de qué nos valemos para hacerlo?: ¿de nuestras habilidades y saberes? ¿de los bienes materiales que acumulamos? ¿de las relaciones y vínculos que creamos?

Dice la Biblia que busquemos primero el Reino de Dios y su justicia, y todo lo demás nos llegará por añadidura. Actuar con fidelidad a Jesús y a sus enseñanzas, utilizando lo que tenemos para construir un legado que trascienda lo material y se enfoque en el amor y el servicio hacia los demás, es la manera más astuta de asegurar no solo nuestro futuro, sino el de nuestra especie.

Oración: Gracias Jesús por tus enseñanzas. Permite que sea honrarte y buscar tu justicia lo que me guíe en este y todos los días de mi vida. Amén.
