PRAY, ALWAYS PRAY WITH PERSISTENCE

Luke 18:1–8

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

Luke 18:7a (NIV)

This parable of the widow who persists in her need is a masterclass on the importance of perseverance in prayer. The widow, despite being ignored by the unjust judge, did not give up. She continued to cry out until the judge, annoyed by her insistence, finally granted her justice.

Just as yesterday, today Jesus asks us: Will God, who is just and merciful, not hear and answer the prayers of his children? The key is persistence. We must not be discouraged if we do not see immediate results; we must continue to pray with faith and hope, trusting that God has perfect timing for his actions. Sometimes, we feel that our prayers are like a cry in the void, that God has forgotten us. But this passage assures us that he does not forget us. He is attentive to our needs and is ready to answer our pleas. We simply need to be persistent and not give up! It’s like planting a seed: we don’t see immediate results, but if we keep watering and caring for it, eventually the seed will germinate and bear fruit. Prayer is like that! We must persevere and trust that God will bring justice in his time!

Prayer: Most loving Lord, today we pause to reflect on the importance of prayer. Thank you for hearing our prayers, for answering our needs, for loving us unconditionally. Amen.

Orar, siempre orar con persistencia

Lucas 18: 1–8

¿Creen ustedes que Dios no defenderá a las personas que él eligió, y que día y noche le piden ayuda?

Lucas 18: 7a

Esta parábola de la viuda que es persistente en su necesidad, es una lección magistral sobre la importancia de la perseverancia en la oración. La viuda, a pesar de ser ignorada por el juez injusto, no se rindió, continuó clamando hasta que el juez, incómodo por su insistencia, finalmente le concedió justicia.

De la misma forma que ayer, hoy Jesús nos pregunta: ¿Acaso Dios, que es justo y misericordioso, no escuchará y no responderá a las oraciones de sus hijos/as? La clave está en la persistencia. No debemos desanimarnos si no vemos resultados inmediatos, debemos seguir orando con fe y esperanza, confiando en que Dios tiene un tiempo perfecto para actuar. A veces, sentimos que nuestras oraciones son como un grito en el vacío, que Dios nos ha olvidado. Pero este pasaje nos asegura que Él no nos olvida. Él está atento a nuestras necesidades y está dispuesto a responder a nuestras súplicas. ¡Solo debemos ser persistentes y no desfallecer! Es como sembrar una semilla: no vemos resultados de inmediato, pero si seguimos regando y cuidando, eventualmente la semilla germinará y dará fruto. ¡La oración es así! ¡Debemos perseverar y confiar en que Dios hará justicia a su tiempo!

Oración: Amantísimo Señor, hoy nos detenemos a reflexionar sobre la importancia de la oración. Gracias por escuchar nuestras oraciones, por responder a nuestras necesidades, por amarnos incondicionalmente. Amén.
