HOW MANY TIMES TO FORGIVE?

Luke 17:1-6

Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.

Forgiveness is an act of love for our neighbor and for ourselves. It is a pact with the heart to settle a debt or heal a wound. It is a reciprocal act of satisfaction in which both the forgiver and the forgiven purify their souls. Forgiveness is empathy; it is understanding that we are imperfect human beings. How many things do we forgive out of love? Is there a set number of times we should forgive? No, and Jesus teaches us through symbols, through infinite numbers. It is not about paying back an eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth in the way it is written in the Old Testament, but about turning the other cheek and forgiving seventy times seven. Jesus calls us to a new era of love, understanding, and justice. Let us not allow hatred to fill our hearts with meaninglessness. Let us love wholeheartedly!

Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

¿CUÁNTAS VECES PERDONAR?

Lucas 17: 1-6

Y si te ofende siete veces al día, y siete veces viene a ti para decirte que se arrepiente, perdónalo

Lucas 17: 4

El perdón es un acto de amor al prójimo y a nosotros mismos; es un pacto con el corazón para saldar una deuda o sanar una herida. Es un acto recíproco de satisfacción en el que tanto el perdonador como el perdonado purifican sus almas. Perdonar es empatía, es entender que somos seres humanos imperfectos. ¿Cuántas cosas perdonamos por amor? ¿Existe un número determinado para perdonar? No, y Jesús nos enseña a través de símbolos, de números infinitos; no se trata de pagar ojo por ojo ni diente por diente a la manera en la que está escrita en el Antiguo Testamento, sino de poner la otra mejilla y perdonar setenta veces siete. Jesús nos llama a una nueva era de amor, de comprensión, de justicia. No permitamos que el odio llene nuestros corazones de sinsentido. ¡Amemos a todo dar!

Oración: Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo, santificado sea tu nombre; venga a nosotros tu reino; hágase tu voluntad, en la tierra como en el cielo. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día; perdona nuestras ofensas como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden; no nos dejes caer en la tentación, y líbranos del mal. Porque tuyo es el reino, el poder y la gloria, por todos los siglos. Amén
