We Were Also Lost Sheep That Jesus Sought and Found.

Luke 15:1-10

‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’

Luke 15:6b (NRSV)

Those who do not know Jesus, or his message, will never be able to understand his choice to side with those who are despised by society. Even though we call ourselves Christians, we sometimes find it difficult to understand the need to seek out the lost sheep, the 100th sheep. Sometimes, many of us forget that we too were lost sheep whom Jesus loved first, and brought back to life.

To be sure, those who don’t know the incomparable love of God can not understand, but those of us who have been received into his embrace, assume the responsibility of continuing to find the sheep that others consider lost causes.

There are so many people we have lost due to a lack of compassion, understanding, and love that we need many people of good will who clearly understand the central message of the Gospel to go out and seek those who need and deserve a place in the flock. Society, especially the Church, may call them sinners, but for Jesus they are children worthy of his blessing. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, fill our hearts with his love and compassion, and go out to show the tenderness and kindness of Jesus to those who need it today.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for welcoming me into your flock. Give me strength, willpower, and love to do the same for others. Amen.

También fuimos ovejas perdidas que Jesús buscó y encontró

Lucas 15, 1-10

“Alégrense conmigo; ya encontré la oveja que se me había perdido”

Lucas 15.6b

Quien no conoce a Jesús, ni a su propuesta, no podrá entender jamás su opción por los despreciados de la sociedad. Aun llamándonos cristianos, en ocasiones nos cuesta entender la necesidad de buscar la oveja perdida, la oveja número 100. A veces, a muchos se nos olvida que también fuimos ovejas perdidas a las cuales Jesús amó primero, y nos devolvió a la vida.

Por supuesto, quien no conoce del amor incomparable de Dios, no lo puede entender, pero para quienes hemos sido recibidos en su abrazo, tenemos la responsabilidad de seguir encontrando ovejas que para otros son casos perdidos.

Hay tantas personas a las cuales hemos perdido por falta de compasión, de comprensión, de amor, que necesitamos muchas personas de buena voluntad, que tengan claro el mensaje central del Evangelio para salir a buscar a quienes necesitan y merecen tener un lugar en el rebaño. La sociedad, incluso la iglesia, puede llamarles pecadores, para Jesús son hijos e hijas merecedoras de su bendición. Pongamos nuestra mirada en Jesús, llenemos nuestro corazón de su amor y compasión y salgamos a mostrar la ternura y bondad de Jesús a quienes hoy lo están necesitando.

Oración:  Señor gracias por acogerme en un rebaño, dame fuerza, voluntad y amor para hacer lo mismo con otras personas. Amén.
