Make an Effort, Come to God's Banquet!

Lucas 14:15-24

“Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”

Luke 14:15b (NRSV)

For sure the Reign of God is like a great banquet to which God invites us, and if we accept that invitation, we can enjoy the abundance of all the good that comes from God. The invitation is to everyone which is not always well received or accepted. Many people who don’t understand this truth are scandalized when they see people in Christian communities who, according to them, “don’t fulfill the requirements” of being Christians, and in the worst cases often are exluded from congregations by human dogmas which which have nothing to do with this purpose of the Gospel. Many are called, it is true, but few respond, sometimes because of non-acceptance and sometimes because of misinterpretation of the true Gospel.

God has prepared a great banquet of life. It is for those who truly feel that calling and are consistent with it. It has nothing to do with who you are; it has to do with the person you strive to be once you accept that calling. That is why some are deaf to that call, but those who take up the challenge, arrive at the banquet and share the vision of the Kingdom that Jesus offers to us will understand the true joy of having been invited.

Prayer: God may you always allow me to respond to the call to be part of building your Kingdom. Amen.

¡Esfuérzate, ven al banquete de Dios!

Lucas 14, 15-24

—¡Dichoso el que coma en el banquete del reino de Dios!

Es cierto, el Reino de Dios es como un gran banquete al cual Dios nos invita, y si aceptamos esa invitación, podemos disfrutar la abundancia de todo lo bueno que viene de Él.  La invitación es para todas y todos, lo que no siempre es bien recibida o aceptada. Muchas personas que no comprenden esta verdad, se escandalizan cuando ven en las comunidades cristianas personas que según ellos “no cumplen los requisitos” para ser cristianos, y en el peor de los casos, muchas veces son excluidas de las congregaciones, por dogmas humanos, que nada tiene que ver con esta propuesta del Evangelio. Muchos son llamados, es cierto, pero pocos responden, a veces por no aceptación y a veces por mala interpretación del verdadero Evangelio.

Dios nos ha preparado un gran banquete de vida, es para quienes verdaderamente sientan ese llamado y sean consecuentes con él, no tiene que ver con quién eres, tiene que ver con la persona que te esfuerzas en ser, una vez que aceptas su llamado. Esto implica compromisos y responsabilidades, no solo con la propia vida, sino con toda la humanidad. Es por eso que algunos son sordos a ese llamado, pero quienes asumen el reto, llegan al banquete y comparten la visión del Reino que nos propone Jesús, entenderán la verdadera dicha de haber sido invitados.

Oración: Dios permite que siempre responda al llamado de ser parte de la construcción de tu Reino. Amen.
