HEART TO HEART

Matthew 13: 10-17

Otherwise, they might…understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.

Matthew 13:15b (NIV)

This text reminded me of a famous line from the book, The Little Prince: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly…”

Jesus’ disciples were accustomed to memorizing portions of the scriptures in a dogmatic way, so they questioned him about his way of teaching. They were amazed by the spontaneity of the Master, who connected with the hearts of the people through parables and everyday stories about his people. Like Jesus, in every space where we find ourselves, let us provoke those touches from heart to heart from the stories of life, from the simple wisdom that does not boast of knowledge. Without a doubt, the Master’s parables are a torrent of blessings that oxygenate our hearts and allow us to touch the lives of those around us with sensitivity.

Prayer: Beloved God, help us to understand you with our hearts so that we may be converted from unbelief to faith and hope, from pride to humility, from the rationality that lets us hear the voice of your Spirit and to committed listening to your call. Amen.

DE CORAZÓN A CORAZÓN

Mateo 13: 10-17
