CALLED TO SERVICE

Matthew 20: 20-28

“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:28 (NIV)

We live in societies where the people who have power and control over everything are the ones who live better. Every day our lives become a competition to occupy the privileged places in order to have power and dominion. But, what is the real privilege: to serve, to help, to accompany or wait to be served? Jesus invites us to ask ourselves, what is the important place for our Christian life, what is the place we occupy or want to occupy? He exhorts us to follow his example, to serve with modesty and humility, and not to dispute with our brothers and sisters for positions of privilege. We are all important. God does not make distinctions of some over others. We are His sons and daughters, and He calls us to justice, truth and service from our different occupations and places.

Prayer: Dear God, help us and accompany us in service towards those who need it. May we never lack the desire to help and support our neighbor. In the name of your beloved son. Amen.

LLAMADO AL SERVICIO

Mateo 20: 20-28

“Imiten al Hijo del Hombre que no vino para ser servido, sino para servir y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos"

Mt 20.28

Vivimos en sociedades donde las personas que tienen poder y control sobre todas las cosas, son quienes mejor viven. Cada día nuestra vida se convierte en una competencia por ocupar los lugares privilegiados para tener poder y dominio. Pero, ¿cuál es el verdadero privilegio? ¿Servir, ayudar, acompañar o esperar a que nos sirvan? Jesús nos invita a cuestionarnos cuál es el lugar importante para nuestra vida cristiana, cuál es el lugar que ocupamos o queremos ocupar. Nos exhorta a seguir su ejemplo, a servir con modestia y humildad, y a no disputar con nuestros hermanos o hermanas posiciones de privilegio. Todas y todos somos importantes. Dios no hace distinciones de unos por encima de otras. Somos sus hijos e hijas y Él nos convoca a la justicia, la verdad y el servicio desde nuestras diferentes ocupaciones y lugares.

Oración: Querido Dios, ayúdanos y acompáñanos en el servicio hacia quienes lo necesitan. Que nunca nos falten las ganas de ayudar y acompañar a nuestro. En nombre de tu hijo amado. Amén.
