FAITH IN THE SMALL THINGS

Matthew 13: 31-35

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed…”

There is a hymn that I always think of when I read the texts that refer to the mustard seed: “Es grande tener fe en las cosas pequeñas, es grande tener fe en las cosas pequeñas que apenas se ven”

In English: “It’s great to have faith in the little things, it’s great to have faith in the little things that are scarcely seen”.

Jesus tells us in the text that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed. Although being very small, once it is planted and tended to, it ends up becoming a tree that not only bears fruit but also welcomes and protects birds and other animals. Could it be that the building of the Kingdom truly begins with the faith that we put in small actions?

I work in a little school for young children, that has been a place of learning and welcome for more than 150 children and their families for the past three years. Although today it is a great project, it all started as just a small dream and a lot of faith.

And you, do you have a similar story that comes to mind today?

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for showing us that we can build your Kingdom every day, with the small actions that are within our reach. Amen.

FE EN LAS COSAS PEQUEÑAS

Mt 13: 31-35

“El reino de los cielos es semejante al grano de mostaza¼”

Mateo 13: 31

Hay un himno que recuerdo siempre que leo los textos relacionados a la semilla de mostaza: “Es grande tener fe en las cosas pequeñas, es grande tener fe en las cosas pequeñas que apenas se ven”

Jesús nos dice en el texto que el Reino de los cielos es semejante a una semilla de mostaza, que siendo muy pequeñita, una vez que es sembrada y atendida, termina siendo un árbol, que no solo da frutos, sino que acoge y protege a las aves y otros animales. ¿Será que la construcción del Reino verdaderamente comienza con la fe que ponemos en pequeñas acciones? 

Trabajo en una escuelita para niños pequeños, que ha sido lugar de aprendizaje y acogida a más de 150 niños y sus familiares, durante tres años. Aunque hoy es un gran proyecto, todo comenzó como un pequeño sueño y mucha fe.

Oración: Gracias Jesús, por ilustrarnos que tu Reino podemos construirlo cada día, con las pequeñas acciones que están a nuestro alcance. Amén.
