A DIFFERENT POWER

Luke 10:1-12,17-20

Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Luke 10:20 (NRSV)

Like the twelve, these men also performed great works, which they did in the name of Jesus and with the power he gave them. Jesus Christ shared with his disciples his own humanity, his profound teachings and his power. Not just any power, but that which is given to those to whom, in Jesus do his will, that which transforms for well-being and peace.

The power that makes us daughters and sons of God is more important than any other power in this world. More importantly, we must take care in the exercise of this power to use it according to Christ’s will and nor according to our own interests or criteria. Many people who don’t follow Christ perform great works. There are even those who do so in the name of Jesus, even though they do not know him or do not understand his message. Nevertheless, only those who believe in Jesus, love him and do his will can share his true message and bring peace around them.

Prayer: Lord, help us to be your select and carry your message to all your people who so need it. Amen.

UNA AUTORIDAD DIFERENTE

Lucas 10:1-12,17-20

“Pero no sé alegren que los espíritus los obedezcan, sino que sus nombres ya están escritos en el cielo”

Lc 10.20

Cuando los setenta y dos regresaron, compartieron con Jesús lo que habían hecho. Al igual que los doce, éstos también hicieron grandes obras, las realizaron en el nombre de Jesús y con el poder que les otorgaba.Jesucristo compartió con las discípulas y discípulos su propia humanidad, sus enseñanzas profundas y su autoridad. No cualquier autoridad, sino aquella que es dada a quienes, en Jesús hacen su voluntad, aquella que transforma para bienestar y paz.

Es más importante el poder que nos hace hijas e hijos de Dios que cualquier otro poder de este mundo.  Más debemos tener cuidado al ejercer este poder, utilizarlo según la voluntad de Cristo y no por nuestros propios intereses o criterios. Muchas personas que no siguen a Cristo realizan grandes obras. Incluso hay quienes las hacen en nombre de Jesús, aun cuando no le conocen o no comprenden mensaje. Sin embargo, solo quienes creen en Jesús, le aman y hacen su voluntad podrán compartir su verdadero mensaje y llevar paz a su alrededor.

Oración: Ayúdanos Señor a ser escogidos y llevar tu mensaje a todo tu pueblo que tanto lo necesita. Amén.
