LOVE FOR THE NEIGHBOR

Luke 10: 25-37

Who is my neighbor?

This is a valid and necessary question for these times, where being selfish becomes so natural that we become so. The parable of the Good Samaritan comes today to show us once again that Jesus’ project is directed toward empathy and love for human improvement and spiritual growth.

There are many wounded people, those on the margins, on the side of the road, battered by the miseries of the world who need someone with a heart like that of the Good Samaritan. Someone to heal their wounds and even their ailments with wine and oil, to help them carry their burdens or to carry them and guide them along the path of love and compassion that saves.

The parable calls us to be agents of change, promoting solidarity and love in our communities. Let us not be selective when it comes to helping those who need us. Let us be a support and sustenance to those at our side.

Prayer: Lord, teach us to love our neighbors, just as you love us. Use us as an instrument of your love and compassion. Amen.

AMOR AL PRÓJIMO

Lucas 10: 25-37

“… ¿Y quién es mi prójimo?”

Lc 10.29

Esta es una pregunta válida y necesaria para estos tiempos, donde el ser egoístas se vuelve tan natural que llegamos a serlo incluso con la persona que somos. La parábola del buen samaritano llega hoy para demostrarnos una vez más que el proyecto de Jesús está encaminado a la empatía y al amor en pos del mejoramiento humano y crecimiento espiritual.

Hay muchas personas heridas, en los márgenes, al borde del camino, golpeadas por las miserias del mundo, quienes necesitan de alguien con un corazón como el del buen samaritano. Alguien que les cure con vino y aceite sus heridas, también sus  dolencias; que les ayude a llevar sus cargas o que les cargue  y lleve por el camino  de amor y compasión que salva.

La parábola nos llama a ser agentes de cambio, promoviendo la solidaridad y el amor en nuestras comunidades. No seamos selectivos a la hora de ayudar a quienes nos necesitan. Seamos apoyo y sostén de quienes están a nuestro lado.

Oración: Señor, enséñanos a amar a nuestro prójimo, así como tú nos amas. Úsanos como instrumento de tu amor y compasión. Amén.
