MY HOPE IS IN JESUS

Matthew 12, 14-21

“He won’t break a bent stalk, and he won’t snuff out a smoldering wick, until he makes justice win. And the Gentiles will put their hope in his name.”

Matt. 12: 20-21 (CEB)

The words that Matthew quotes in this chapter are those of the prophet Isaiah, making an allusion to a fulfilled prophecy. The broken stalk and the smoldering wick.

Definitely, sometimes we have felt like the broken stalk waiting for someone or something to come and save us, and this is exactly the hope that this text leaves us with, a merciful God who knows us well and loves us as we are.

We have been a lighted wick that has been put out and now smolders for living realities, it costs us to believe that we will be able to again be strong in the midst of so much turbulence. In these moments we close our eyes, remembering the promise of God and trusting in God.

 

My hope is in Jesus. And yours?

Prayer: God of hope, love and promises, thank you for one more day of life where your word is our sustenance. We ask you for strength to get by the obstacles of life, in the name of your beloved Son we pray. Amen.

MI ESPERANZA ESTÁ EN JESÚS

Mateo 12, 14-21

“No romperá la caña quebrada ni apagará la mecha que apenas humea, hasta que haga triunfar la justicia. Y las naciones pondrán su esperanza en él”

Mt 12. 20-21

Las palabras que retoma Mateo en este capítulo son del profeta Isaías, haciendo alusión a una profecía cumplida. La caña quebrada y la mecha que apenas humea.

Sin duda, alguna vez nos hemos sentido como la caña quebrada esperando por alguien o algo que venga a salvarnos, y esa es precisamente la esperanza que nos deja el texto, un Dios misericordioso que nos conoce tal y como somos y así nos ama.

Hemos sido una mecha encendida que se ha ido apagando y ahora apenas humea por realidades vividas, nos cuesta creer que podremos volver a ser fuertes en medio de tanta turbulencia. En esos momentos cerramos los ojos, recordamos la promesa de Dios y confiamos en Él.

Mi esperanza está en Jesús. ¿Y la tuya?

Oración: Dios de esperanza, amor y promesas, gracias por un día más de vida donde tu palabra es nuestro sustento, te pedimos fortaleza para lograr pasar los obstáculos de la vida, en el nombre de tu hijo amado oramos. Amén.
