FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD

Matthew 19: 16-22

Jesus said, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good.  If you want to enter eternal life, keep the commandments.”

Matthew 19:17 (CEB)

How difficult it is for us to fulfill all of the commandments the Lord has taught us!  Are there  very good people and very bad people?  Before God all of us are equal. We all live under God’s protective mantle and God’s gaze.  To love the other, the stranger, just as we love ourselves is one of the most difficult commandments to fulfill: we are not even capable of loving ourselves, and we ignore the stranger simply because of the prejudices we have about culture, religion or physical features. 

Not lying also becomes difficult when you want to protect the people you love or when you think that a little pious lie will not have an effect.  Caring for our parents when there is no time left for ourselves nor our children is complex.  How to continue being faithful to God’s word? To change, to build the good is a hard road, but to live in God’s love and try to be better every day is our choice.  

 Prayer: Beloved Father, allow us to be faithful to your word, give us wisdom and strength.  Amen.

FIELES A SU PALABRA

MATEO 19: 16-22

“Le respondió Jesús… ¿Por qué me preguntas a mí acerca de lo bueno? Uno solo es bueno: Dios. Pero, si quieres entrar en la vida, cumple los mandamientos”.

Mateo 19:17

¡Qué difícil nos resulta cumplir con todos los mandamientos que el Señor nos ha enseñado! ¿Existen los muy buenos y los muy malos? Ante Dios todos y todas somos iguales. Todos y todas vivimos bajo su manto protector y su mirada. Amar a la otra persona, al extraño como a nosotros mismos es uno de los mandamientos más difíciles de cumplir cuando aun no somos capaces de amarnos a nosotros mismos, cuando ignoramos al extraño simplemente por los prejuicios que tenemos sobre su cultura, religión o aspecto físico.

No mentir también resulta difícil cuando quieres proteger a las personas que amas o cuando piensas que una mentirilla piadosa no afectará. Cuidar a nuestros padres cuando la vida a veces no nos alcanza para nosotros mismos ni para nuestros hijos es complejo. ¿Cómo seguir siendo fieles a su palabra? Cambiar, construir lo bueno, es un camino duro, pero vivir en su amor y tratar de ser mejores cada día es nuestra elección.

Oración: Amado Padre, permite que podamos ser fieles a tu palabra, danos sabiduría y fortaleza. Amén.
