THE JOY OF DOING GOOD

Luke 11: 27-28

He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Luke 11:28 (NIV)

How comforting it is to find along our path people full of goodness and kindness, people who enlighten us, who simply do us good. Imagine if we were those people, those people would be happy to see us, that they would feel comfortable around us, that they would always seek us out to improve their days. As Jesus said, it would be an enormous joy, for we would be fulfilling the will of our God. It’s not about forcing ourselves, about doing it out of commitment; it’s about having a vocation for refuge, for shelter, for well-being, and the desire to share it with others.

If we are able to awaken in others the joy and enthusiasm that Jesus inspired in that woman, it means we are on the path that God has opened for all of us. It is true that daily worries dull us and we move away from that quality of being a light for others, but we must always feel the need to release the good that God placed within us.

Prayer: May God grant that everything that comes from me will always bring happiness to someone. Amen.

LA DICHA DE HACER EL BIEN

Lucas 11: 27-28

“Dichosos más bien, contestó Jesús, los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la obedecen.”

Lucas 11:28

Que reconfortante es encontrar en nuestro camino, personas llenas de bien y de bondad, personas que nos iluminan, simplemente nos hacen bien. Imaginemos que seamos nosotros esas personas, que la gente se alegre de vernos, que sientan comodidad a nuestro lado, que siempre nos busquen para mejorar sus días. Como dijo Jesús, sería una dicha enorme, pues estaríamos cumpliendo la voluntad de nuestro Dios.  No se trata de obligarnos, de hacerlo por compromiso, se trata de tener vocación de remanso, de cobija, de bienestar y el deseo de compartirlo con otras y otros.

Si somos capaces de despertar en los demás, la alegría y entusiasmo que Jesús provocó en aquella mujer, significa que vamos por el camino que Dios ha abierto para todas y todos. Es cierto que las preocupaciones diarias nos van apagando y nos vamos alejando de esa cualidad de ser luz para otras y otros, pero debemos en todo momento volver a sentir la necesidad de desprender lo bueno que Dios puso en nuestro interior.

Oración: Permite Dios que todo lo que salga de mi haga dichoso a alguna persona siempre. Amén.
