THE POWER OF SERVICE

Matthew 23:1-17

But the one who is greatest among you will be your servant. All who lift themselves up will be brought low, but all who make themselves low will be lifted up.

Matthew 23:11-12 (CEB)

Humans over the course of history have been obsessed with power. Many Biblical passages and historical writings show that this desire is the sin that is both most common and most pain-causing from generation to generation.  The idea that the most important person is the one who has a position of high responsibility or the one who is economically solvent is sadly rooted in us to this day. Jesus changes the idea completely; for God it is not like this.  For God the most important one will be the servant of the rest, he will be the last one in line.  God changes archetypes, it is complex for our ego to humble ourselves and serve others, but God will elevate the one whose life is given for others.  “The one that does not live to serve is no good for living.”  – Teresa of Calcutta

Prayer: We are grateful to you, God, for all the kindness, because you came to this earth to show us that true power is found in service.  Flood us with this virtue so that our lives may be in service to all who need it.  In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

EL PODER DEL SERVICIO.

Mateo 23:1-17

 

El más importante entre ustedes será el siervo de los demás. Porque el que a sí mismo se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido.

Mateo 23:11-12

El ser humano a lo largo de su historia ha estado obsesionado con el poder, muchos pasajes bíblicos e históricos dan muestra de que este deseo es el pecado más presente y que más daño ha causado de generación en generación. Jesús cambia por completo la idea, tristemente enraizada hasta nuestros días, la persona más importante es la que tiene un puesto alto de responsabilidad, la que tiene una solvencia económica, no, para Dios no es así, el más importante será el siervo de los demás, será el último en la fila. Dios cambia los arquetipos, es complejo para nuestro ego humillarnos y servir a otros, pero Dios elevará a aquel cuya vida se entrega por otros. “El que no vive para servir, no sirve para vivir.” Teresa de Calcuta.

Oración: Te agradecemos Dios de toda bondad, porque viniste a esta tierra para demostrarnos que el verdadero poder se encuentra en el servicio. Infúndenos esa virtud para que nuestra vida sea en servicio de todo el que lo necesite. En el nombre de Jesús oramos. Amén.
