OUR HOPE

Psalm 39:2-10

And now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.

Psalm 39:7 (NRSV)

The psalmist opens his heart to us in a moment of deep reflection. The silence he keeps isn’t peace, but a weight which turns into pain. In the midst of this inner struggle, he recognizes his fragility and cries out to God to show him the brevity of life. This passage reminds us that our existence is like a breath, and that everything we accumulate in this world is temporary.

Biblical wisdom invites us to live aware of the shortness of our lives. We are not masters of time or results; we’re pilgrims who depend on God’s grace. The psalmist does not remain in despair, but turns his gaze to the Lord: “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.” Here is the key: hope is not in what we possess or what we achieve, but in God himself.

Just as the psalmist opens his heart, we can accompany others in their fragility, listening and praying together.

Prayer: Lord, may our hope always be in you, and may our actions reflect your light in the midst of human frailty. Amen.

NUESTRA ESPERANZA

Salmo 39:2-10

Y ahora, Señor, ¿qué esperaré? Mi esperanza está en ti.

Salmo 39:7

El salmista nos abre su corazón en un momento de profunda reflexión. El silencio que guarda no es paz, sino un peso que se convierte en dolor. En medio de esa lucha interior, reconoce su fragilidad y clama a Dios para que le muestre la brevedad de la vida. Este pasaje nos recuerda que nuestra existencia es como un soplo, y que todo lo que acumulamos en este mundo es pasajero.

La sabiduría bíblica nos invita a vivir conscientes de nuestra finitud. No somos dueños del tiempo ni de los resultados; somos peregrinos que dependen de la gracia de Dios. El salmista no se queda en la desesperanza, sino que dirige su mirada hacia el Señor: “Y ahora, Señor, ¿qué esperaré? Mi esperanza está en ti” (v.7). Aquí está la clave: la esperanza no está en lo que poseemos, ni en lo que logramos, sino en Dios mismo.

Así como el salmista abre su corazón, nosotros podemos acompañar a otros en su fragilidad, escuchando y orando juntos.

Oración: Señor, que nuestra esperanza esté siempre en ti, y que nuestras acciones reflejen tu luz en medio de la fragilidad humana. Amén.
