Decrease

John 3:22-30

“He must become greater; I must become less”.

John 3:30 (NIV)

We find John the Baptist at a moment of transition. His disciples are concerned because Jesus is attracting more followers, but John responds with humility and clarity: “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

This passage teaches us the true attitude of a disciple: by recognizing that all glory belongs to Christ. John does not cling to his ministry or his fame; he understands that his mission is to prepare the way and then step aside for the Lord. His joy is not in the number of his followers, but in seeing God’s purpose fulfilled.

In our lives, we often struggle with the desire for recognition, to be seen and valued. However, the Gospel calls us to focus our gaze on Christ. True fulfillment is not found in exalting ourselves, but in Jesus being exalted. When he takes first place, our joy is complete.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach us to live with humility, recognizing that all glory belongs to You. May we always serve with love along the way so that others may come to know you. Amen.

Es necesario que él crezca, pero que yo mengüe.

Encontramos a Juan el Bautista en un momento de transición. Sus discípulos se preocupan porque Jesús atrae a más seguidores, pero Juan responde con humildad y claridad: …“Es necesario que Él crezca y que yo mengüe”

Este pasaje nos enseña la verdadera actitud del discípulo: reconocer que toda gloria pertenece a Cristo. Juan no se aferra a su ministerio ni a su fama; entiende que su misión es preparar el camino y luego dar paso al Señor. Su alegría no está en la cantidad de seguidores, sino en ver cumplido el propósito de Dios.

En nuestra vida, muchas veces luchamos con el deseo de reconocimiento, de ser vistos y valorados. Sin embargo, el evangelio nos llama a centrar nuestra mirada en Cristo. La verdadera plenitud no está en engrandecernos, sino en que Jesús sea exaltado. Cuando Él ocupa el primer lugar, nuestro gozo se hace completo.

Oración: Señor Jesús, enséñanos a vivir con humildad, reconociendo que toda gloria es tuya. Que podamos servir siempre con amor en el camino para que otros te conozcan. Amén.
