THE SEED AND THE SOIL

Mark 4:1-21

Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.

Those of us who have attended church since we were children, are familiar with parables, and we always had a teacher who explained to us what Jesus meant. Here we are reminded of our teacher, Ruling Elder Eloisa Jorge. When we read the parable of the Sower and its meaning, we are joyful in the certainty that the seed fell within us, germinated, grew and bore abundant fruit, and this is a good joy. However, many things can happen that prevent our fruit from being what God expects. Problems, anxieties and sadness can drown us like thorns, or a child can stray from the path and wither our little plant. For this, the Lord has given us resources: prayer, reading and studying the Word, sharing with our brothers and sisters, and helping others are the ideal fertilizer to strengthen our faith. It doesn’t matter how long we have been listening to the Word and attending Church, and the good news is that on that narrow path, we will not be alone; Jesus will be by our side.

Prayer: Beloved Lord, thanks be to God for showing us the way and for walking with us. Amen.

LA SEMILLA Y LA TIERRA.

Marcos 4:1-21

Oid, El sembrador salió a sembrar

Para los que asistimos a la iglesia desde niños y niñas, sabemos de parábolas y siempre una maestra nos explicaba qué quería decir Jesús. Aquí recordamos a nuestra maestra, la PG. Eloísa Jorge.  Cuando leemos la parábola del Sembrador y su significado, nos alegramos en la certeza de que en nosotros cayó la semilla que germinó, creció y dio frutos abundantes; y es buena esta alegría. Sin embargo, pueden pasar muchas cosas para que nuestros frutos no sean los que Dios espera. Los problemas, angustias y tristezas pueden ahogarnos como espinos, o puede un muchacho desviar su paso y marchitar nuestra plantita.  Para esto el Señor nos ha dado recursos: la oración, la lectura y estudio de la Palabra, el compartir con los hermanos y ayudar a otros son el abono ideal para fortalecer nuestra fe. No importa el tiempo que hace que escuchamos la Palabra, y asistimos a la iglesia, y la buena noticia es que, en ese camino angosto, no estaremos solos, Jesús va a nuestro lado.

Oración:  Señor amado, tú nos muestras el camino y caminas con nosotros. Gracias Dios. Amén.
