The Power of Intimacy with God

Mark 1:29-39

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Jesus enters the house of Simon and Andrew, where he heals Simon’s mother-in-law. As evening falls, the whole town gathers at the door, bringing the sick, and Jesus heals them. However, the most surprising thing happens afterward: very early in the morning, he withdraws to a solitary place to pray.

The text shows us two inseparable dimensions of Jesus’ ministry: public service and personal intimacy with the Father. Jesus does not allow himself to be caught up in fame or the demands of the crowd. His strength, his willingness to serve, does not come from the approval of the people, but from communion with God. We need to learn this balance. Christian service is vital: caring for the needy, proclaiming the gospel, accompanying those in sorrow. But if we do not cultivate prayer, our spirituality, we will soon become exhausted. In prayer we find direction, rest, and strength to continue.

Prayer: Lord, teach us to serve with love and to always seek your presence in prayer. Make us faithful in our mission and constant in our intimacy with you. Amen.

El Poder en la Intimidad con Dios

Marcos 1, 29-39

Levantándose muy de mañana, siendo aún muy oscuro, salió y se fue a un lugar desierto, y allí oraba.

Jesús entra en la casa de Simón y Andrés, donde sana a la suegra de Simón. Al caer la tarde, toda la ciudad se reúne en la puerta, trayendo enfermos y Jesús los sana. Sin embargo, lo más sorprendente ocurre después: muy de madrugada, se retira a un lugar solitario para orar.

El texto nos muestra dos dimensiones inseparables del ministerio de Jesús: el servicio público y la intimidad personal con el Padre. Jesús no se deja atrapar por la fama ni por las demandas de la multitud. Su fuerza, su voluntad de servicio no proviene de la aprobación de la gente, sino de la comunión con Dios. Necesitamos aprender este equilibrio. El servicio cristiano es vital: atender al necesitado, proclamar el evangelio, acompañar en el dolor. Pero si no cultivamos la oración, nuestra espiritualidad, pronto nos agotaremos. En la oración encontramos dirección, descanso y fuerzas para seguir adelante.

Oración: Señor, enséñanos a servir con amor y a buscar siempre tu presencia en oración. Haznos fieles en la misión y constantes en la intimidad contigo. Amén.
