MARCH 21, FRIDAY

JOSEPH AND HIS BROTHERS

Genesis 37, 3-4. 12-13. 17-28

“When some Midianite traders passed by, they pulled Joseph up out of the cistern. They sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver, and they brought Joseph to Egypt.”

From childhood, our churches tell the story of Joseph who was sold by his brothers. His father Jacob adored him because he was the youngest of them all, and that unleashed the anger and envy of the rest of his sons. When they were caring for the sheep in Shechem, Joseph’s brothers put him in a well so he would die of thirst and cold, but some traders who came from Midian came by and his brothers decided to sell him to them.

Joseph suffered the betrayal of his brothers, he felt alone and abandoned. How many fears would he have had? How would we act if we saw ourselves in a similar situation? Joseph trusted in the Lord, his path was altered and he reached greatness through faith, which he felt in his heart. Joseph became the governor of Egypt. God never abandoned him. 

Prayer: Beloved Father, give me your hand and do not ever let me go. Take care of our people. Amen.

JOSÉ Y SUS HERMANOS

Génesis 37, 3-4. 12-13. 17-28

“Y sus hermanos le hicieron caso. Sacaron a José del pozo y se lo vendieron a los mercaderes por veinticinco monedas de plata. Los mercaderes se llevaron a José a Egipto.”

Génesis 37:28

Desde niños, en nuestras iglesias nos narraban la historia de José, quien fue vendido por sus hermanos. Su padre Jacob lo adoraba por ser el menor de todos, y eso desató la ira y la envidia del resto de sus hijos. Cuando estaban cuidando el rebaño en Siquem, los hermanos de José lo arrojaron a un pozo para que se muriera de sed y de frío, sin embargo, al rato pasaron unos mercaderes que venían de Galaad y sus hermanos decidieron venderlo.

José sufrió la traición de sus hermanos, se sintió solo y abandonado. ¿Cuántos temores habrá tenido? ¿Cómo actuaríamos si nos viéramos en una situación similar? José confío en el Señor, su camino fue trazado y alcanzó la grandeza a través de la fe, de lo que sentía su corazón. José se convirtió en el gobernador de Egipto. Dios nunca lo abandonó.

Oración: Padre amado, dame tu mano y no me sueltes jamás. Cuida de nuestro pueblo. Amén.
