DISCIPLES OF JESUS

Matthew 23; 1-12

For they tie together heavy packs that are impossible to carry. They put them on the shoulders of others, but are unwilling to lift a finger to move them.

Hypocrisy is the pretense of qualities or feelings opposite to those that one truly has or exhibits. It is the act where individuals behave in the opposite way from the values they uphold or acting in concert with principles that they also criticize. This expression, which can come from the desire to disguise real motives or feelings, favors their own blindness, believing that they can point out the blindness of others. It is the worst corruption of the spiritual life.

Jesus directs severe criticisms at the scribes and pharisees. He uncovers the way they manipulate the law and gives a lesson to his followers: service which seeks to dignify human beings. On the other side, he warns the people so that they will know the warmth of those who proclaim to be teachers and set them free from their yoke, leaving transcendental precepts to Christians of all times.

Prayer: God, free us from all intent of hypocrisy and pretending to be superior over others. Let our relationships always be natural and straightforward. Amen.

Discípulos de Jesús.

Mateo 23; 1-12

Atan cargas pesadas y difíciles de llevar, y las ponen sobre los hombros de los hombres; pero ellos ni con un dedo quieren moverlas.

La hipocresía es el fingimiento de cualidades o sentimientos contrarios a los que verdaderamente se tienen o se experimentan, es el acto donde los individuos se comportan de forma contraria a los valores sostenidos por ellos mismos o actúan en consonancia a principios que, al mismo tiempo, se critican. Esta expresión, que puede venir del deseo de ocultar motivos o sentimientos reales, favorece la propia ceguera, al creer que puede señalar a los demás como ciegos. Es la peor corrupción de la vida espiritual.

Jesús dirige severas críticas a los escribas y fariseos. Descubre la manipulación que hacen de la ley y da una lección a sus seguidores: el servicio, que busca dignificar al ser humano. Por otro lado, advierte al pueblo, para que conozcan la calidad de los que se proclaman maestros y se liberen de su yugo, dejándonos a cristianas y cristianos de todos los tiempos transcendentales preceptos.

Oración: Dios, líbranos de todo intento de hipocresía y pretensión de superioridad sobre los demás. Permite que nuestras relaciones sean siempre naturales y sencillas. Amén.
