ENCOUNTERS THAT CHANGE YOUR LIFE

John 4, 5-42

Jesus responded, “If you recognized God’s gift and who is saying to you, ‘give me some water to drink,’ you would be asking him and he would give you living water.

John 4.10(CEB)

How difficult it is at times to break the barriers that we place on ourselves, socially, culturally or in our family. Also from the church we create and follow dogmas that exclude groups, spaces, or experiences that can support our lives tremendously. The biblical witness shows us that Jesus, breaking down these barriers and drawing close to those most in need of closeness, welcome and hope.

Jesus tears down all the walls, challenges the dogmas and allows the disciples, the woman and himself to go through a sobering experience. Jesus humbly asked for water, giving the opportunity for this woman to serve and to feel needed. He asked her about her life and he gave her the chance to feel good about herself, he gave her certainty for a new lease on on life, he offered her water forever and confirmed his accompaniment for the rest of her life. And the woman is filled with new strength and trust in a God who embraces and sends her. This is the true path that we should follow not only as Christians, but also as human beings. May nothing impede our ability to open our lives to those who need living water today.

Prayer: Good God, let my life always be open to welcome, include, and share the path of life with others. Amen.

MARZO 23, DOMINGO

ENCUENTROS QUE TE CAMBIAN LA VIDA

Juan 4, 5-42

–Si supieras lo que Dios da y quién es el que te está pidiendo agua, tú le pedirías a él, y él te daría agua viva.

Juan 4.10

Que difícil a veces es romper las barreras que nos imponen, social, cultural o familiarmente. También desde la iglesia, creamos y seguimos dogmas que excluyen, de grupos, espacios, vivencias que pueden aportar muchos a nuestras vidas. Los relatos bíblicos nos muestran a Jesús, rompiendo esas barreras y acercándose a quienes más necesitan de cercanías, de acogida y de esperanza.

Jesús derriba todos los muros, desafía los dogmas y se permite vivir una experiencia que fue aleccionadora para los discípulos, la mujer y para El mismo. Jesús, humilde pide agua y le da la oportunidad a esta mujer de servir, de sentirse útil, le pregunta por su vida y le da la oportunidad de sentirse bien con ella misma, le da certeza de una nueva oportunidad de vida, le brinda agua para siempre y le confirma su compañía por el resto de su vida. Y esta mujer se llena de nuevas fuerzas y confianza en un Dios que la abraza y la envía. Es este el verdadero camino que debemos seguir no solo como cristianos, sino como seres humanos. Que nada impida que podamos abrir nuestras vidas a quienes hoy necesitan del agua viva.

Oración: Permite buen Dios que siempre mi vida este abierta para acoger, incluir, compartir el camino de viva con otras y otros. Amén.
