ACCEPTING THE WILL OF GOD, LIKE MARY

Luke 1: 26 – 38

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Luke 1: 38 (NIV)

The choice of Mary as mother of Jesus highlights the idea that God chooses ordinary people to fulfill his purposes. This invites us to consider how each of us can be called to fulfill a divine purpose in our daily lives.

Mary’s response reflects her total trust in God, even in the face of uncertainty. This invites us to consider our own reactions to the unknown. Mary identifies herself as “the Lord’s servant,” which shows her humility and willingness to serve. She does not seek her own self-interest nor does she feel worthy of such an honor, but rather she presents herself as a tool in God’s hands.

The attitude of this young woman of Nazareth challenges us to cultivate humility in our own lives and to be open to serve others and God, regardless of our own aspirations. It challenges us to say “yes” to God in our daily lives, whether in small decisions or in large callings.

Prayer: Beloved God, we pray that, like Mary, we may open our hearts to your call and accept your will in our lives. Amen.

ACEPTAR LA VOLUNTAD DE DIOS, COMO MARÍA

Entonces María dijo: Yo soy esclava del Señor; que Dios haga conmigo como me has dicho. Con esto, el ángel se fue...

Mateo 1: 38 

La elección de María como madre de Jesús resalta la idea de que Dios elige personas comunes para cumplir sus propósitos. Esto nos invita a considerar cómo cada uno de nosotros/as puede ser llamados a cumplir un propósito divino en nuestra vida cotidiana.

La respuesta de María refleja una confianza total en Dios, incluso ante la incertidumbre. Esto nos invita a considerar nuestras propias reacciones ante lo desconocido. María se identifica como "la sierva del Señor", lo que demuestra su humildad y disposición para servir. Ella no busca su propio interés ni se siente digna de tal honor, sino que se presenta como una herramienta en manos de Dios.

La actitud de la joven de Nazaret nos desafía a cultivar la humildad en nuestras propias vidas y a estar abiertos a servir a los demás y a Dios, sin importar nuestras propias aspiraciones. Nos desafía a decir "sí" a Dios en nuestra vida diaria, ya sea en pequeñas decisiones o en grandes llamados.

Oración: Amado Dios, te pedimos que al igual que María, podamos abrir nuestros corazones a tu llamado y aceptar tu voluntad en nuestras vidas. Amén.
