LOVE EACH OTHER ALWAYS

Psalm 116: 1-2

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.

Psalm 116:1 (NIV)

Julian and Teresa, two beloved neighbors, were married in church and promised to love each other until death do them part. Both, she in her white dress and he in a navy blue, looked resplendent. They had known each other since childhood; their love had always been one of novels or fairy tales. Today they have been together for 50 years.

What is the secret that has kept them together for so long? I thought. I approached them to ask them to tell me their secret. They both replied that the basis of their love consisted in listening first with the heart and in respecting each other. Surprised by how simple and difficult the secret was, I then confessed that I truly love the Lord because he hears what is in my heart, not only my prayers, but also my gratitude. He pampers me like a father does his daughter, protects me from evil, and shows me the right path. Although it is not a romantic love like Julian and Teresa’s, this love is also forever.

Prayer: Father, thank you for your mercy and your infinite patience, for your love. Thank you for listening to me. I love you. Amen.

AMARNOS PARA SIEMPRE

Salmos 116: 1-2

Yo amo al Señor porque él escucha mi voz de súplica.

Salmo 116:1

Julian y Teresa,  unos vecinos muy queridos, se casaron en la Iglesia y prometieron amarse hasta que la muerte los separara. Ambos, ella con su vestido blanco y él de un azul marino, lucían relucientes. Desde la niñez se conocieron,  su amor siempre ha sido de novelas o de cuentos de hadas. Hoy hace 50 años que están juntos.

¿Cuál es el secreto que les mantiene juntos desde hace tanto? -pensé.  Me acerqué a ellos para que me dijeran su secreto. Ambos respondieron que la base de su amor consistía en escuchar primero con el corazón, en respetarse¼ Sorprendida por lo simple y a la vez difícil del secreto; confesé entonces que en verdad amo al Señor porque escucha lo que hay en mi corazón, no solo mi súplica, también mi gratitud. Me consiente como un padre a su hija, me protege del mal y me indica el camino correcto. Aunque no sea un amor de pareja como el de Julian y Teresa, este amor también es para siempre.

Oración: Padre, gracias por tu misericordia y tu infinita paciencia, por tu amor. Gracias por escucharme. Te amo. Amén.
