GIVE US YOUR PEACE

John 14:  27-31

Your kingdom is a kingship that lasts forever; your rule endures for all generations.

Psalm 145: 13a (CEB)

Our days are more and more complex, where despair and fear stalk many people.  And it is not only regarding something small. We live in a full-on material and physical war; we live in a world where hate, war, genocide and heartbreak try to enthrone us.

Only those of us who believe first in a better future in the Kingdom of Heaven from here and now will be able to bring the Word of Life to others.

Jesus tells us:  Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you not as the world gives. Don’t be troubled or afraid. (v. 27, CEB)

There is a Cuban song in our hymnals (284) which is a petition for the Peace of the Lord to come to us, and I offer these verses as our special prayer for today: 

Prayer: As the sugar cane finds beauty and rich flavor in the rain, in you my soul has looked for peace; You are my Rock, my Liberator.  Give us this Peace that all people yearn for. Give us this Peace that Christ promised us; We ask you today to flood our land with your Holy Peace, Blessed Lord, Amen.

DANOS TU PAZ

Juan 14:  27-31

Tu reino es un reino eterno; tu dominio permanece por todas las edades

Salmo 145: 13ab

Son nuestros días cada vez más complejos, donde la desesperanza y el miedo acechan a muchos. Y no es para menos, pues vivimos en plena guerra material y espiritual; en un mundo donde el odio, las guerras genocidas y el desamor tratan de entronizarse.

Sólo quienes creemos en un futuro mejor en el Reino de los Cielos desde ahora y aquí primero, seremos  capaces de llevar a otros la Palabra de Vida.

Jesús nos dice: Les dejo un regalo: Paz en la mente y en el corazón. Y la Paz que yo doy es un regalo que el mundo no puede dar. Así que no se angustien ni tengan miedo  (V.27).

Hay un canto cubano en nuestros himnarios (284), que es una súplica para que venga a nosotros la Paz del Señor, y presento estas estrofas como nuestra oración especial de hoy:

Oración: Como las cañas en la lluvia encuentran toda hermosura y rico sabor, en ti mi alma la paz ha buscado: Tú eres mi Roca, mi Libertador. Danos esa Paz que anhelan todos los hombres, Danos esa Paz que Cristo nos prometió; Te pedimos hoy que inundes toda la tierra con tu Santa Paz, Bendito Señor. Amén.
