JESUS WARNS HIS FOLLOWERS

John 15: 26-27

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me

from the beginning.

John 15: 26-27 (NIV)

The most important part of this Promise is this: “the Spirit goes out from the Father and whom I will send to you from the Father.” Jesus identifies Himself as Mediator. There is a unique relationship between Jesus and the Spirit. His conception, his biological beginning, is due to the Spirit, being the perfect union between God and man. The work of the Spirit is life in the mystery of the incarnation.

At his baptism the Spirit is manifested, and He is revealed as the Son of God. The Spirit leads Jesus into the desert, guiding him to combat and vanquish the devil. Through the Spirit, Jesus performs healing and miracles.

Jesus places on his disciples a moral responsibility of great transcendence that continues even to this day. Following Jesus means bearing witness to Him, that can be manifested in different ways, according to the gifts we receive from the Spirit.

Prayer: Thank you for your Spirit, giver of life and faith. Amen.

JESÚS ADVIERTE A SUS SEGUIDORES

Juan 15:  26-27

Pero cuando venga El Consolador, el Espíritu de verdad, el cual procede del Padre y a quien yo les enviaré de parte del Padre, Él dará testimonio acerca de mí. Y ustedes también darán testimonio, porque han estado conmigo desde el principio.

Lo más importante de esta Promesa es que: “el Espíritu procede del Padre y a quien yo les enviaré de parte del Padre”. Jesús se identifica como Mediador. Existe una relación única entre Jesús y el Espíritu. Su concepción, su inicio biológico, es debida al Espíritu, siendo la unión perfecta entre Dios y el hombre. La obra del Espíritu es la vida en el misterio de la encarnación.

En su bautismo se manifiesta el Espíritu y es revelado como Hijo de Dios. El Espíritu conduce a Jesús al desierto, guiándolo para combatir y vencer al diablo. Por el Espíritu Jesús realiza sanaciones y milagros.

Jesús pone sobre sus discípulos una responsabilidad moral de gran trascendencia que llega hasta nuestros días. Seguir a Jesús significa dar testimonio de Él, que puede manifestarse de diferentes maneras, según los dones que recibamos del Espíritu.
