The Invisible Tattoo

John 13: 31a-33, 34-35

This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.

John 13:35(CEB)

In a world obsessed with external markings, attention grabbing tattoos, clothing designed by famous designers, luxury autos, Jesus proposes a new identification for us: an “invisible tattoo” of love and mercy that can be seen in concrete actions.

This love is visible when:

·    You choose to defend that coworker who everyone else makes fun of, acting for justice.

·    You forgive your adolescent child who messed up again or made a mistake for the umpteenth time.

·    You take hot soup to your elderly neighbor who lives alone.

·    You smile patiently at the bank cashier or the clerk at the store who is inundated with work and is not the one to blame for failures in the bank system nor the long line to purchase items.

Prayer: Lord, today I recognize that at times my love tattoo fades. When it costs me to love, remind me how you loved me first.  May my life be like those t-shirts with messages that are able to announce your love to the world without speaking.  Amen.

El tatuaje invisible

Juan 13: 31a-33, 34-35

En esto conocerán todos que son mis discípulos, si se aman los unos a los otros.

Juan 13:35

En un mundo obsesionado con las marcas externas, tatuajes llamativos, ropa de marcas diseñadas por famosos, autos de lujo; Jesús nos propone una identificación nueva: un "tatuaje invisible" de amor y misericordia que se ve en acciones concretas. 

Este amor se nota cuando: 

· En la el trabajo eliges defender a ese compañero del que todos se burlan y obras con justicia

· Perdonas por enésima vez a tu hija/hijo adolescente que volvió a fallar o a equivocarse 

· Le llevas sopa caliente a tu vecino anciano que está solo 

· Sonríes con paciencia a la cajera del banco o al dependiente de la tienda que está saturado de trabajo y no tiene culpa ni de las fallas del sistema bancario ni de la cola para comprar

Oración: Señor, hoy reconozco que a veces mi "tatuaje de amor" se desvanece. Cuando me cueste amar, recuérdame cómo tú me amaste primero. Que mi vida sea como esas playeras con mensajes que, sin hablar, pueda anunciar tu amor al mundo. Amén.
