God Our Refuge

Psalm 18:  2 - 5

I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer

Psalm 18: 1-2a (NRSV)

The psalmist recounts moments of anguish. His life testimony is precise. He thanks God for his help, for the snares of death surrounded him. It was a crucial situation in which he took refuge in the Lord, whom he praises.

Such timely words! We are going through very difficult times. All around us are sad faces and anxious eyes, minds empty of anything but their most urgent needs.

But our refuge is in God and not in hiding ourselves. The rock which is God makes us stronger. That is why we say that God is our refuge and our strength in times of calm, of storm and pf walking with us. That is why in Him we are safe and free on the path of giving hope. The psalmist says: My God, in Him I will trust.

Let us live this day and all the days to come holding fast to the rock that is our God.  Let us fill our minds and hearts with this truth.

Prayer: Eternal Father, put so much faith in us that we can share it, so much love that we can feel the pain and the joy of all and everyone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dios nuestro refugio

Salmo 18:  2 - 5

Te amo Jehová,  fortaleza mía,  roca mía  y Castillo mío, mi libertador

Salmo 18:  1 - 2a

Momentos de angustia narra el salmista.  Su testimonio de vida es preciso.  Agradece a Dios su ayuda pues le rodearon lazos de muerte.  Fue una situación crucial en la que se refugió en el Señor a quien rinde alabanza.

¡Qué palabras tan actuales! Pasamos momentos muy difíciles.  A nuestro alrededor se muestran rostros tristes y ojos ansiosos,  mentes vacías que no sean de otra cosa que sus necesidades más urgentes.

Mas nuestro refugio está en Dios y no para escondernos. La roca que es Dios nos hace más fuertes.  Por eso decimos que Dios es nuestro refugio y nuestra fortaleza en la calma, la tempestad,  y camina con nosotros.  Por eso en Él estamos seguros y libres en el camino de dar esperanza.  El salmista dice:  mi Dios,  en él confiaré. 

Vivamos este día y todos los que han  de llegar asidos a la roca que es nuestro Dios.  Llenemos nuestras mentes y nuestros corazones de esta verdad.

Oración:  Padre eterno,  pon en nosotros tanta fe que podamos compartirla, tanto  amor que podamos sentir el dolor y la alegría de todos y todos. Por Jesús,  amén.
