YOU ARE SALT AND LIGHT

Matthew 5: 13-16

You are the salt of the earth. . . .

Matthew 5: 3ª; 4ª (NIV)

Salt is one of the most common and beneficial substances in cooking. It is used in everyday life to flavor our food so that it tastes its best.

On the other hand, to be light is to shine in everything we do, putting interest, desire, and love into our actions to illuminate life.

The text invites us to balance our daily actions, to give flavor and shine from who we are to what we want to show. May our light be the light of Jesus, a lamp for our feet so that our steps may be firm, sure, and may illuminate our journey and our shared projects.

God has creative ways of leading us through life, cultivating a savory appetite for everything we do in his name, dispelling darkness and radiating the light of love and joy around us.

Prayer: Jesus, you who call us to be salt and light, grant that we may be the genuine flavor of your love, and that our witness may be a reflection of your true light that has come to illuminate all humanity. Amen.

ERES SAL Y LUZ

Mateo 5: 13-16

Ustedes son la sal de la tierra…ustedes son la luz del mundo.

Mateo 5: 13ª; 14ª

La sal es una de las sustancias más comunes y provechosa en la cocina. Usada en la cotidianidad de la vida para dar sabor a nuestros alimentos y degustar de su mejor punto.

Por otro lado ser luz es brillar en todo lo que hacemos, poniendo interés, deseo y amor en nuestras acciones para iluminar la vida.

El texto nos invita a balancear nuestro hacer cotidiano, a dar sabor y a brillar desde quienes somos hasta lo que queremos mostrar. Que nuestra luz sea la luz de Jesús, lámpara nuestros pies para que nuestras pisadas sean firmes, seguras y que puedan iluminar nuestro andar, nuestros proyectos comunes.

Dios tiene formas creativas de conducirnos por la vida, cultivando el gustoso apetito por todo lo que hagamos en su nombre y disipando la oscuridad e irradiando luz de amor y de alegría a nuestro alrededor.  

Oración: Jesús, tú que nos llamas a ser sal y luz, permite que podamos ser el sabor genuino de tu amor y que nuestro testimonio sea reflejo de tu luz verdadera que ha venido a iluminar a toda la humanidad. Amén.
