Build Your House on the Rock and It Will Last

Matthew 7. 21-29

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

Matthew 7: 25 (NIV)

Jesus alludes to using his teaching as a pillar, as a foundation on which to build our life. Our faith must germinate from God like a seed that grows because of the rain that nourishes it. This biblical text reminds me of the song to which its name is attributed; Levanta tu casa sobre la roca (Build your house on the rock), and I remember that there is a part in the song that says: …There will be no power in this world that can resist his word… There is nothing in this world that can resist the word and the will of God, against his desire to help and do good for all people. We learned that from Him; so those must be our pillars, our rock.

Prayer: Lord, may we never forget what you have taught us, the way you gave us a purpose and a reason to exist. May your voice never leave us and your words always be our rock. Amen.
