Luke 12:35-48

Happy are those whom he finds alert, even if he comes at midnight or just before dawn.

The Gospel of Luke was written in a time when the Christian community faced persecutions and great social and political changes.

It invites us to live in constant readiness and responsibility before the coming of the Lord. Jesus, with his words, calls his disciples to be prepared and alert, as if they were faithful servants awaiting the return of their master.

Jesus says: “Gird your loins and keep the lamps lit”–an image that symbolizes constantly being prepared and ready for action.

Active vigilance and responsibility–we must live aware of Jesus’ call to serve with faithfulness in the present. To be ready to receive the Lord is to be ready to serve, to extend a hand from the heart, with compassion, to accompany and strengthen us together, without expecting a reward, except for the certainty that God values faithfulness.

May this word drive us to be humble servants, and to help those who need us.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to wait for you with girded loins and a lighted lamp. Help me to live each day with purpose, with love, with faithfulness. May my heart not be numb, may my hand not get tired, may my hope not be snuffed out. Come, Lord, and find me vigilant. Amen.

SIEMPRE DISPUESTOS

Lucas 12:35-48

Sí, dichosos aquellos siervos a quienes su señor encuentre preparados, aunque llegue a la medianoche o de madrugada.

El Evangelio de Lucas fue escrito en un momento en que la comunidad cristiana enfrentaba persecuciones y grandes cambios sociales y políticos.

Nos invita a vivir en constante vigilancia y responsabilidad ante la venida del Señor. Jesús, con sus palabras, llama a sus discípulos a estar preparados y alerta, como si fueran siervos fieles esperando el regreso de su amo.

Jesús dice: “Estén ceñidos los lomos y las lámparas encendidas”, imagen que simboliza la preparación constante y la disposición para la acción.

La vigilancia activa y la responsabilidad. debemos vivir conscientes de que su llamado es para servir con fidelidad en el presente. Estar listo para recibir al Señor, es estar listo para servir, para extender la mano desde el corazón, con compasión, a acompañar y fortalecernos juntos, sin esperar recompensas, sino con la certeza de que Dios valora la fidelidad.

Que esta palabra nos impulse a ser servidores humildes, y apoyar a quien nos necesita.

Oración: Señor Jesús, quiero esperarte con los lomos ceñidos y la lámpara encendida. Ayúdame a vivir cada día con propósito, con amor, con fidelidad. Que mi corazón no se adormezca, que mis manos no se cansen, que mi esperanza no se apague. Ven, Señor, y encuéntrame vigilante. Amén.
