The satisfaction of doing good.

Luke 10:17-24

For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.

Luke 10:24 (NRSV))

Imagine the smile on Jesus’ face, the satisfaction in God’s essence each time our actions truly reflect the teachings of the Master.

In the same way, our spirit should rejoice every time we do good, every time we bear witness to God, every time we act out of authentic faith.

Sometimes we see with sorrow and worry how there is a disconnect between the proclamation of faith in God and daily acts, as if it were sufficient to say that we believe in God without putting that faith into practice. The satisfaction in doing good must be a necessity a calling and not an obligation. We must feel that it is an essential part of life to act in favor of justice, to help “defeat” the demons of hatred, selfishness, and insensitivity.

 If we feel a sense of well-being in our spirit every time we do something for other people, then we are on the true path that makes Jesus smile with pride.

Prayer: God, help me to be a faithful witness to my faith in you through our actions.

La satisfacción por hacer el bien.

Lucas 10.17-24

Les digo que muchos profetas y reyes quisieron ver lo que ustedes ven, pero no lo vieron; quisieron oír lo que ustedes oyen, pero no lo oyeron.

Lucas 10.24

Imagino la sonrisa en el rostro de Jesús, la satisfacción en la esencia de Dios, cada vez que nuestros actos, nuestras acciones, reflejan verdaderamente las enseñanzas del Maestro.

De la misma forma, nuestro espíritu se debe regocijar cada vez que hacemos el bien, cada vez que damos testimonio de Dios, cada vez que obramos movidos por una autentica fe.

A veces vemos con dolor y preocupación como hay una desconexión, entre la proclamación de fe en Dios y las acciones cotidianas, como si fuera suficiente decir que creemos en Dios, sin poner en práctica esta fe. La satisfacción por hacer el bien, debe ser una necesidad, debe ser vocación y no obligación, debemos sentir como parte imprescindible de la vida, actuar a favor de la justicia, ayudar a “derrotar” los demonios del odio, el egoísmo, la insensibilidad.

Si sentimos un bienestar en nuestro espíritu cada vez que hacemos algo a favor de otras personas, entonces estamos en el camino verdadero que hace sonreír de orgullo a Jesús.     

Oración: Dios ayúdame a ser fiel testimonio de la fe en ti, a través de nuestras acciones.
