Seniors’ Day in Cuba

Following Jesus Unconditionally

Luke 9:57-62

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:62 (NRSV)

In this passage, Jesus calls other people to follow him, but he also warns them about the difficulties and compromises that that implies. Jesus response shows us that following him requires commitment that is total and without reservation. God’s call is a beginning to walk with God as the priority of our lives, setting our sights on Him and moving forward with determination toward a lifestyle where love and service abound.

Sometimes we find ourselves looking back, remembering old habits or amenities that alienate us from God’s purpose for our lives. Following Christ is not only a momentary decision but also a daily path of devotion and trust in His guidance.

Today, reflect on what things are impeding you in advancing fully in your walk with Jesus. Are there memories or habits from the past that still bind you? Ask God for the strength to leave behind that which doesn’t edify.

Prayer: Lord, Jesus, thank you for your call to follow you with all our heart. Help me to leave behind those things that distract or alienate me from you. Give me the strength to put my hand to the plow and not look back. May my life be a reflection of your love an faithfulness. Amen.

Seguir a Jesús sin condiciones

Lucas 9:57-62

Ninguno que poniendo su mano en el arado mira hacia atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.

En este pasaje, Jesús llama a diferentes personas a seguirlo, pero también les advierte sobre las dificultades y los compromisos que esto implica. La respuesta de Jesús nos muestra que seguirlo requiere una entrega total y sin reservas. El llamado de Dios es un comienzo a caminar con Dios como prioridad de nuestras vidas, poniendo nuestra mirada en Él y avanzar con determinación hacia un estilo de vida donde sobreabunde el amor y el servicio.

A veces, nos encontramos mirando hacia atrás, recordando viejos hábitos o comodidades que nos alejan del propósito de Dios para nuestras vidas. Sin embargo, Jesús nos invita a dejar esas cargas y avanzar con fe y compromiso. Seguir a Cristo no es solo una decisión momentánea, sino un camino diario de entrega y confianza en su guía.

Hoy, reflexiona sobre qué cosas te están impidiendo avanzar plenamente en tu caminar con Jesús. ¿Hay recuerdos o hábitos del pasado que aún te atan? Pídele a Dios la fuerza para dejar atrás lo que no edifica.

Oración: Señor Jesús, gracias por tu llamado a seguirte con todo nuestro corazón. Ayúdame a dejar atrás las cosas que me distraen o me alejan de ti. Dame la fuerza para poner mi mano en el arado y no mirar hacia atrás, sino avanzar con fe y determinación hacia el propósito que tienes para mí. Que mi vida sea un reflejo de tu amor y fidelidad. Amén.
