Celebration of the Mission at Camagüey

Understanding God's will in our lives.

John 1:26-30

This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’

John 1:30 (NRSV)

This beautiful and moving passage announcing the birth of Jesus was also news to Mary, who did not understand what the mysterious angel said to her when he approached her.

Mary was perplexed, but the angel consoled her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.”

Just as she was concerned about this confession, which announced the child she would carry in her womb, fruit of the Holy Spirit whose name would be Jesus, we are concerned when an unexpected blessing comes into our lives. We begin to question why this is so, how strange that they chose me instead of someone else.

We are so incredulous that we do not immediately accept the gifts that God gives us in His infinite mercy.

Mary reconsidered and came to grips with the great opportunity that she had received, understood, then, the will and the call that God was giving her, since God is not interested in our riches or our social position, but rather looks at our hearts and gives His grace without distinction.

Prayer: Gracious God, I thank you for the grace you pour out on our lives every day. Forgive our disbelief for often not accepting the blessings you offer us. And in the same was as Mary, we say to you today, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Amen.

Entender la voluntad de Dios en nuestras vidas.

Juan 1, 26-30

"Entonces el ángel le dijo: María, no temas, porque has hallado gracia delante de Dios"

Juan 1:30

Este hermoso y conmovedor pasaje que nos anuncia el nacimiento de Jesús, constituyó también una noticia para María, que no entendía lo que aquel ángel misterioso le dijo cuando se le acercó.

María se turbó, pero el ángel la consoló: "No temas, porque has hallado gracia delante de Dios".

Así como ella se preocupó ante esta confesión, que le anunciaba el hijo que llevaría en su vientre, fruto del Espíritu Santo, cuyo nombre sería Jesús, nos preocupamos nosotros cuando a nuestras vidas llega una bendición inesperada. Comenzamos a cuestionar el ¿por qué será?, ¿que extraño que me eligieron a mí en lugar de otra persona?

Somos tan incrédulos, que no aceptamos desde el primer momento los regalos que Dios nos brinda en su infinita misericordia.

María recapacita y entiende la gran oportunidad que ha recibido, comprende entonces la voluntad y el llamado que Dios le está haciendo, ya que a Él no le interesan nuestras riquezas, nuestra posición social, sino que mira nuestro corazón y entrega su gracia, sin ningún tipo de distinciones.

Oración: Dios bondadoso, te agradezco la gracia que derramas cada día en nuestras vidas. Perdona nuestra incredulidad por no aceptar en muchas ocasiones las bendiciones que nos ofreces. Y te decimos hoy al igual que María "He aquí la sierva del Señor, hágase conmigo conforme a tu palabra". Amén.
